My New iPod

I have recently acquired a 5gb iPod from a good friend of mine. It does not seem to have anything wrong with it, and I am currently using this four year-old device, which I can say is quite a good piece of engineering design, which is more than many electronics of this age can attest to.

Avalanche!

Man peed way out of avalanche

A Slovak man trapped in his car under an avalanche freed himself by drinking 60 bottles of beer and urinating on the snow to melt it.

Rescue teams found Richard Kral drunk and staggering along a mountain path four days after his Audi car was buried in the Slovak Tatra Mountains.

He told them that after the avalanche, he had opened his car window and tried to dig his way out.

But as he dug with his hands, he realized the snow would fill his car before he managed to break through.

He had 60 half-litre bottles of beer in his car as he was going on holiday, and after cracking one open to think about the problem he realized he could urinate on the snow to melt it, local media reported.

He said: "I was scooping the snow from above me and packing it down below the window, and then I peed on it to melt it. It was hard and now my kidneys and liver hurt. But I'm glad the beer I took on holiday turned out to be useful and I managed to get out of there."

Parts of Europe have this week been hit by the heaviest snowfalls since 1941, with some places registering more than ten feet of snow in 24 hours.

This 1971 Mercedes-Benz could have been mine. It was in quite good condition when my grandfather passed away, and he promised that I could have it, but my grandmother decided it wasn't safe enough.

iPod Shuffle

As almost anyone who reads this alrady knows, Apple has introduced their iPod Shuffle, a small, flash-based, 512 mb and 1 gb mp3 player, priced at $99 and $149 respectively. This is quite competitive in today's flash-based mp3 player market, and I expect Apple to do quite well. The comparitive picture shows the iPod, the iPod Mini, and the new iPod Shuffle, side by side.

The following are links to information regarding the new iPod Shuffle:

Samsung Miniket

This new Samsung Miniket, first shown at CES is a 6 in 1 gadget, featuring a camcorder, digital camera, mp3 player, voice recorder, data storage, and PC cam. This compact device is packed with features, but is it good at doing any one thing?
